Iowa Music Teacher Association

Welcome to the Iowa Music Teachers Association! Iowa Music Teachers Association Active Membership offers a mentoring program for young teachers and those who are new to the Association. Members are also afforded the opportunity to register for the Iowa Music Teachers State Conference at the reduced members rate.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • IMTA events will be held as the health situation permits.  Please watch the calendar and this scrolling page for changes or cancellations.
  • IMTA/MTNA dues must be paid by September 1, 2020, for anyone who hasn’t already renewed.  New members and collegiate members must be paid by October 1.
  • 2020 IMTA STATE PIANO AUDITIONS– Congratulations to all students who competed in our first-ever virtual State Piano Competition.  Results and the downloadable state program can be found under the STATE AUDITIONS RESULTS tab at https://iamta.org/audition-results.php  on this website.
  • IMTA/MTNA AUDITIONS for all instruments will be October 31, 2020.  This will be a virtual audition this year.  Registration, deadlines and further information will be available on the MTNA website in the near future. The 2020-2021 Repertoire list is near completion and will soon be posted on the repertoire page.   It will also appear in the summer issue of the Iowa Music Teacher magazine. Should you see necessary corrections to the current list, please send to imtarepertoire@gmail.com

IMTA/MTNA & LOCAL DUES

IMTA/MTNA Dues deadline is July 1 for all renewing members.  A grace period is offered between the time statements are issued at the end of April until September 1.   *Student members must be paid by October 1, 2019.  All other members are in good standing provided they have paid before September 1.  New MTNA/IMTA members may pay at any time the first year and are offered a half-price membership after January 1.

*Any student member wishing to enter their students in IMTA competitive or non-competitive events must pay full IMTA and MTNA membership, due July 1, no later than September 1. (Effective immediately as of April 6, 2019 Board meeting.)  Please contact imtafinance@gmail.com or imtamembers@gmail.com for more information.


Sharon Jensen, State Local Associations Chair is always accepting “From the Heart” submissions for our magazine.  Send submissions to Sharon or imtamagazine@gmail.com. You may include your name or ask to remain anonymous.
