District & State Auditions

IMTA Pre-College Piano Auditions

The purpose of the Iowa Music Teachers Association Pre-College Piano Auditions is the promotion of comprehensive musicianship. The Auditions provide a competition in which the pre-college student may demonstrate their performance ability, keyboard proficiency and knowledge of theory.

Students compete in one of six age appropriate levels and perform three contrasting styles of pieces selected from our IMTA Repertoire list. Students receive a certificate and comments from a qualified adjudicator.

Winners from district events compete in the IMTA State competition. Winners from the state competition present a feature performance at the IMTA Conference Honors Recital.
